Elderly cyclist dies following Kildare collision

A female cyclist, aged in her 80s, has passed away following a road traffic collision in Kildare on Monday.
Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses following the incident involving a truck and a bicycle, that occurred on the R414 (Rathangan Road) at Monasterevin in Kildare.
The collision occurred at approximately 9.50am.
The female cyclist was conveyed to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Dublin, for treatment of serious injuries.
She was later pronounced dead, a garda spokesperson confirmed in an update issued on Tuesday morning.
No other injuries were reported at the time.
The road was closed for a time to facilitate a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
Road users who were travelling in the area of the R414 (Rathangan Road) – known locally as "Cow Pastures” - at Monasterevin, Co Kildare, on Monday between 9:15am and 10.15am and who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
