Put wind turbines where they belong

BY all means put hundreds of wind farms offshore where they are at least efficient, but do not ruin Ireland by siting ten here and ten there.

These tend to be in upland areas contravening the Government's own guidelines, working at 25% efficiency due to variable wind direction and in the process ruining our precious scenery.

We have been dealing with tourists for over 30 years. They come here for one main reason the scenery. In the pipeline at the moment are wind turbines and their subsequent pylons extending from Gouganebarra down the Beara Peninsula. An Bord Pleanála's reports negative are often overruled by unaccountable committee members. It is a national disgrace.
