MY reckoning, the score in the referendum on the Nice Treaty stands at one against, one for – a draw.

Surely in the time-honoured tradition of gambling and sports, we should now make it the best of three. And can we look forward soon to re-runs of the narrowly defeated referenda on divorce and abortion?
