Aer Lingus forced to change its tune
I was also a bit amused to learn that it was in response to a complaint from Unionist politician Roy Beggs, whose sensitive nature was offended.
Call me old-fashioned, but I just see this as another example of popular culture being eroded in the interests of so-called political correctness.
While I understand Aer Lingus’ difficulties in catering for a wide customer base, perhaps they should have reviewed the selection and content of the songs available, rather than removing the whole feature in response to someone so obviously biased.
In the interests of peaceful co-existence, I think ‘live and let live’ should be the order of the day.
Perhaps Mr Beggs hopes that the residents of besieged nationalist housing estates in the North won’t object this July when loyalist bands parade through their communities, and remind them of something that happened centuries ago.
