DUP man picks wrong country as a comparison

ON RTÉ’S Questions and Answers recently, Gregory Campbell of the DUP tried to suggest that Northern Ireland’s relationship to the Republic was comparable with that of Canada to the USA.

This outrageous analogy is typical of the historical and ideological confusion at the heart of Ulster unionism.

Canada’s relationship with the US has always been strained because of consistent economic and military pressure from its belligerent neighbour whose hegemony over the Americas is now invincible.
