Sinking feeling at pool

THE other day I brought my children to swimming lessons with the Lee Swimming Club in Douglas pool, Cork. I was shocked by the conditions there.

Sinking feeling at pool

The floors were filthy. My youngest daughter needed to use the bathroom. There was no toilet paper and the floor was soaking wet. Paint was peeling off the walls and some of the woodwork around the seating area was rotten and falling apart. The roof seemed to be leaking. The whole place was depressing and very rundown.

Recently I was in Switzerland where every area seemed to have a pool. They were simply built and very clean. Could we in Ireland not aspire to something more, especially for our youngsters?
