Where were we then? We were in our prams

THE February 15 march, and the number of septuagenarian protesters outside the Dail last Thursday, showed that the Irish campaign against the war on Iraq ranges across the age spectrum.

Where were we then? We were in our prams

However, as a significant number were in their 20s or early 30s, I would like point out the disingenuousness of the Government argument: “where were the protesters when the Soviet Union had landing rights at Shannon?”

Many of us were tots and teens and we cannot be blamed for the apathy of our predecessors. I did not demonstrate against the US military use of Shannon during the Vietnam War because I was not born until eight years after the end of that illegal war.
