True democrats fear a two-speed Europe

MANY true democrats will echo Dana Rosemary Scallon’s concern about the direction the EU is taking (Irish Examiner letters, March 18).

It is disturbing that there are moves within the European Parliament to go ahead without us if we choose to oppose the EU constitution. This is the two-speed EU that the No to Nice campaign warned about.

I support Dana’s call on the Government for a strongly worded reply to Valery Giscard d'Estaing and those MEPs who would ignore the democratic wishes of the Irish people if, and hopefully when, they give a resounding ‘no’ to the proposed EU constitution.
