Sorry outcome

ANYONE who has had planning permission refused will surely feel a measure of indignation at our State’s céad míle fáilte to Peter Stringfellow and his 100 ‘exotic’ dancers (Irish Examiner, January 10).

The futile attempts of those who tried to protect their neighbourhood from the kind of unsavoury influences they have spent decades keeping at bay makes for a sorry chapter in our State’s legal history.

Of course, Stringfellow doesn’t care much for the inner city’s welfare - but when has morality and the welfare of the less-well-off ever concerned our legal system when big money interests come knocking?
