Let’s do our duty now
A fable popular in South America concludes that mañana (tomorrow) is the word the devil chooses to combat mankind’s conscientious tendencies.
It is indeed easy for us here to put emergency situations like Darfur on the long finger; perhaps it’s easier to empathise with a tearful Paula Radcliffe or Sonia O’Sullivan than a starving mother and child in Sudan.
Today, and not tomorrow, is the time to do our duty by our fellow men, women and children in Darfur.
