Chorus crisis - Key priority to safeguard jobs, services

THE shock appointment of an examiner to cable TV company Chorus has left doubts hanging over television services for 200,000 people.

But, thanks to innovative legislation designed to give companies a chance to get over their difficulties, its creditors cannot put the company into liquidation.

Essentially, the measure creates a breathing space for the owners of Princes Holdings, trading as Chorus, to salvage the company, even though it is saddled with debts of over €385 million.
