Political parties don’t understand public anger over water charges

It is not merely the bonus culture that has brought hundreds of thousands of people out onto the streets. It is the concept of paying twice over for water that has the Irish people furious, it is the fact that Irish people are being expected to consider their finances before using something as fundamental as water that has driven people to the streets

Irish Water is a creation of Fine Gael and Labour. The line that there has been “communication issues” or “teething problems” in setting up a new utility – though they might sound good when bandied about the Cabinet table – bear no relation to what is happening in the country.
