Man, 40s, in critical condition after two men attempt e-scooter theft in Dundalk

The incident occurred at Muirhevnamor in Dundalk at approximately 8:30pm.

A man, aged in his 40s, received serious injuries after he was approached by two men who attempted to take his e-scooter. 

He is being treated at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he remains in a critical condition.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.

One man, aged in his 30s, was subsequently arrested and is being detained at a station in the Garda North Western Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.

Anyone who was in the Muirhevnamor area on Tuesday October 6, between 7pm and 9pm, who may have video footage, including dash-cam, is asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
