It is unlikely that a private member’s bill to end the enforced fluoridation of water in Ireland will get anywhere.

Both the Government parties and Fianna Fáil have indicated they will oppose it.

Despite this, it is a worthwhile effort as it means that such an important issue is being debated in the Dáil. The bill is the work of Independent TD Catherine Murphy and members of the Dáil’s technical group.
