We can bank on the smart new jobs plan
'Trading and Investing in a Smart Economy’ – as the plan is called – will do much to aid our recovery.
The 15,000 new jobs in the tourism industry are to be welcomed, as well as the €10 travel tax that each tourist will have to pay so they can come and spend their money here – all of which should more than pay for these new jobs.
Not to mention the income boost to An Post when all these new tourists find they must send postcards home telling friends and family about of our ‘smart economy’ because most of them will not have proper access to broadband while they are here.
But the real advantage is that the Government can take it easy on us in the upcoming budget. With all these extra jobs, the tax take will be up in a few short years and unemployment will be almost non-existent, so there will be no need to cut expenditure now – just hold tight till the extra money starts to flow in. Now that the Government has this great new plan the money is as good as in the bank – Anglo Irish Bank.
