Budget 2027: New cost of disability payment to be delivered in one lump sum

It is expected the new cost-of-disability payment will be in the range of €400 and €500 and will be paid out early in the new year

A new cost-of-disability payment is now expected to be delivered in one lump sum in January, and social welfare payments will be increased by around €8 to €10 as part of next week's budget.

The three coalition leaders met with public expenditure minister Jack Chambers and social protection minister Dara Calleary on Thursday to discuss pension payments, supports for carers, as well as the new measures for those with a disability.
