FG’s judge-and-jury approach is ‘despicable’

FINE GAEL has once again excelled itself.

Not content with seeing its leader humiliated in the Dáil by Brian Cowen, it keeps on shooting itself in the foot.

To see Deputy Simon Coveney (Letters, March 7) adopting a holier-than-thou attitude towards Deputy John Cregan’s letter (March 1) on RTÉ’s coverage of the tribunal is laughable.

Mr Cregan’s letter hit the nail on the head as far as many people are concerned and that is what has annoyed Fine Gael again.

Mr Coveney calls the Cregan letter “partisan” and then proceeds to give the most partisan diatribe about the credibility of the Taoiseach’s tribunal evidence. In doing so, he again repeats the despicable Fine Gael tactic of acting as judge and jury before the tribunal has concluded its hearings or produced a report.

He is right in saying the public will not be fooled.

They have already shown by their response to the negative Fine Gaeltactics that they have not been conned by the bluff and bluster which that party has consistently employed.

The public are fed up with Fine Gael’s rush to judgment on the tribunal proceedings.

Not for the first time, the Fine Gael strategy has been exposed for what it is. When will they ever learn?

In the meantime, they will continue to get their answer from the public.
