THERE can hardly be a publican, taxi driver or their family in the whole country who do not relish waiting in the long grass for general election day to pay back those who have destroyed their family businesses over the past few years — the Fianna Fáil and PDs.

Driving, smoking and drinking laws needed to be regulated but what emanates from this Government is a series of arrogant decisions which tolerate no compromises. This arrogance comes from years of uninterrupted high office, convinced they will never be turfed out.

People are starting to think an alternative government could do a better job.

The list for change is endless — not least health, housing and crime. However, the recent treatment towards Cork Airport really shows the cavalier attitude to Cork by Fianna Fáil. But what do you expect from a Government which has 12 Dáil seats in Cork city and county and yet gives us just one senior and one junior minister?
