Gardaí renew appeal for information on 2005 killing of Limerick man
The body of David Nunan was found by a farmer tending to his cattle near a laneway at Fairyhill, Parteen, in 2005.
Gardaí have renewed their appeal for information on the murder of a man whose body was discovered in Clare 21 years ago.
David Nunan was shot dead, and his body was found by a farmer tending to his cattle near a laneway at Fairyhill, Parteen, on October 28, 2005.
The investigation remains open and active, with gardaí at Mayorstone Park Garda Station continuing to seek information about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Mr Nunan had been playing video games with a friend at his home in O’Malley Park, Limerick City, in the early hours of the morning when he received a phone call at about 2am.
When the call ended, he told his friend he was going for a spin in a car.
Gardaí believe a wine-coloured Toyota Carina may have collected him from his home before travelling from Southill in Limerick to Moyross, and then towards Parteen, where his body was discovered.
An autopsy established that gunshot wounds were the cause of death, and a murder investigation was launched.
In the 21 years since the killing, gardaí have arrested 17 people in connection with the investigation and conducted a number of searches at addresses across Limerick.
Almost 450 statements have been taken, and numerous exhibits have been retained as part of the inquiry.
Gardaí said they are particularly anxious to hear from anyone who may have information about the driver of the Toyota Carina or anyone else who was travelling in the vehicle.
They are also appealing to anyone who saw or met Mr Nunan, or had any dealings with him, in the days leading up to his murder.
Investigators believe the passage of time may mean that people who were previously unable to come forward could now be in a position to assist the inquiry.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Mayorstone Park Garda Station on 061 456980, Henry Street Garda Station on 061 212400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
