Cork traffic and weather: Met Éireann forecasts mixed conditions in days ahead

Met Éireann has predicted mixed conditions with sunny spells and scattered showers.

The national forecaster said Tuesday will start off blustery with sunny spells expected throughout the early morning.

As the afternoon progresses, scattered showers will move in, turning prolonged in places before becoming sparse.

A brisk northwesterly wind will ease into the evening with late sunshine occurring across the region.

Met Éireann said it will be a fresh day with highest temperatures of 14C to 17C.

It will be mostly dry overnight as showers become isolated and clear spells develop.

However, some drizzle or light showers will affect western fringes later.

It will be a cool night with lowest temperatures of 6C to 10C.

Wednesday will be a largely dry day with light west to southwest breezes.

Sunny spells are expected across the east, with cloudier conditions, drizzle and light showers predicted elsewhere.

Met Éireann said temperatures will reach between 15C and 18C.

Wednesday night will be dry early on, before cloudy outbreaks of rain will gradually move into the west and southwest overnight.

Lowest temperatures of 10C to 14C with moderate southerly winds are expected.

Traffic 

Traffic is starting to slowly build across some of Cork’s major city links, with steady flows along Carr’s Hill, Maryborough Hill, the N40 at Kinsale Road Roundabout and along the N40 heading towards the Jack Lynch Tunnell.

Motorists should be aware that the Turner’s Cross slip road remains closed this morning on the N27 heading towards the city centre.

National Weather Outlook 

Cloudy outbreaks of rain will become widespread by early afternoon on Thursday, with some heavy bursts in places.

Met Éireann predicts that sunny spells and well-scattered showers will move into the west and southwest during the afternoon, extending elsewhere later.

Temperatures will reach highs of 15C to 19C in a moderate, occasionally fresh, southerly wind.

Friday will see much drier and brighter conditions with a mix of sunny spells and isolated showers.

Highest temperatures of 15C to 18C degrees with light northwesterly breezes are predicted.

Met Éireann said Saturday is currently shaping up to be a wet day with rain easing during the evening.

However, in contrast, Sunday will be a mostly dry day with sunny spells, after any overnight mist or fog clears.
