Traitors Ireland episode five recap: Is this season being ruined by clever Faithfuls?
We are just four banishments in, and three Traitors have been banished.
We can’t quite believe we are writing this, but the Faithfuls have got another Traitor.

On Monday, suspicions of Páraic K started early, with 27-year-old postal worker Anna flagging that the lecturer seemed “wrecked”.
“Carla is my other one that I want to look at,” she continued.
“She looks tired,” Diageo agreed. “And she’s like, ‘I’m so confused!’”
There is barely anyone sat enjoying their croissants when Siobhán walks through the door to a collective gasp.
Faithfuls Sam, Janet, DJ, Donal, Denis and Ian have been placed on death row. The remaining players are told they will play a big role in deciding which of them does not return.
Séan C takes charge in the castle, asking everyone to name who they believe are the three “strongest” Faithfuls. Group consensus? Denis, Janet and Ian.
Well, consensus sans Aoife, who isn’t saying much. The trainee fashion buyer is a suspected Traitor, and she is struggling with feeling she is constantly being examined and mistrusted. When David acknowledges “it must be hard for you today”, she leaves the room in tears, clearly a bit overwhelmed.
“Not to be blunt,” Pauric O says, “but that’s three days in a row there’s been tears. We have to look at that.”
For this episode’s mission, the Traitors have put those on death row in pairs: Sam and Donal, DJ and Denis, and Ian and Janet.
The remaining players must choose one pair they’re willing to fight for. They can then compete in a quiz – as Gaeilge! – and those who get the answers right will earn money for their chosen pair. The pair with the most money at the end of the game will be saved from death row.
Pauric O starts getting tetchy with some of his fellow players when not everyone decides to place their gold bars in Ian and Janet’s bucket.
“We came in with a plan,” he protests. “We agreed we’d save Janet and Ian.” Kayleigh pushes back, saying they hadn’t all agreed, actually. Somewhat reluctantly, the players do agree, in the end, to prioritise saving that pair.
With tensions flaring in the SUVs back to base, stay-at-home dad David tries to play peacemaker.
“It’s not the message, it’s the delivery,” he tells Pauric O, but he doesn’t want to hear it.
“If I was his girlfriend, I’d have him by the fucking balls,” Kayleigh fumes.
“If I am going down, I am taking a Traitor with me,” Denis announces at the round table, immediately pointing to Páraic K.
“First point, exhaustion. Murdering is a nocturnal activity. Second point. Traitors tend to over-volunteer information to preempt suspicion or attack. You came up to me yesterday and you told me you were anxious. Really interesting. When do I see you most anxious? Here, at this round table. You are passive, you are quiet, but you are fully activated. You’re energised but you’re not sharing anything.” Round of applause for Denis – the psychotherapist training is being put to good use now!
His partner Diageo jumps in to add that he spotted him “shaking” before the last round table.
“Could that be because you were about to go against your fellow Traitor?” he wonders.
“You’ve mentioned the phrase double bluff more than anyone. You’re obsessed with the double bluff,” Séan C adds.
“Why were those six people picked? A lot of us have heat on Donal, we’ve constantly been saying one Traitor there, one Traitor at the castle, that’s the obvious thing. We’re looking at those six, thinking the most likely [Traitor] is Donal due to the heat. Why would Donal put himself in that situation? It’s too obvious. Then I thought, whoa, what’s that? That’s a double bluff.”
Aoife, however, isn’t quite out of the crossfire, so Séan suggests the two take the opportunity to plead their case before the group makes a decision.
“If I stand up there and say I am a Traito-eh-Faithful," Páraic K starts.
Ah lads.
It's all over. Páraic K is out. There is just one Traitor left, and we all know it can’t be left that way.
Carla chooses to blackmail Aoife – be murdered here and now, or allow yourself to be thrown under the bus for me. That bit isn't said out loud, of course, but surely it's obvious?
Will Aoife be foolish enough to accept the cloak?
