Met Éireann issues flood warning for 7 counties

National forecaster Met Éireann has issued three weather warnings today.

A Status Yellow Weather Advisory has been issued for Wexford, Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Waterford.

It states that a "combination of strong onshore winds, high tides and heavy rain brings the enhanced risk of coastal flooding overnight and tomorrow morning to exposed coastal areas"

The advisory is valid from 3am to 3pm tomorrow.

A Status Yellow rainfall warning has been issued for West Munster, Connacht and Donegal.

It warns of heavy rains overnight and tomorrow morning, with falls of up to 40mm expected, as well as “possibly larger values on high ground”.

The warning comes into effect from midnight tonight, and is valid until noon tomorrow.

A Status Yellow Wind Warning has also been issued - this time for the entire country.

It is predicting “South to southwest winds of 60 to 65km/h, with gusts of 100 to 110km/h” overnight and “for a time” tomorrow.

“Winds could reach higher speeds at times in some exposed Atlantic coastal areas.”

The warning comes into effect from midnight tonight, and is valid until 2pm tomorrow afternoon.
