Irish citizens asked to pray for victims of Paris attacks

The Primate of all Ireland Eamon Martin is calling on each Irish citizen to pray for the victims of the Paris terror attacks.

Archbishop Eamon Martin has said like many Irish people he has happy memories of visiting the beautiful French Capital.

The Archbishop of Dublin Diarmuid Martin has led prayers in the Pro Cathedral for the victims of the attacks.

He has called on people to join him in offering prayers for the victims today.

The Government Chief Whip, Paul Kehoe, has confirmed that the Dáil Éireann will mark the events in Paris.

Mr Kehoe released a statement saying: "The atrocities in Paris have appalled the Irish people and, as is fitting, the national parliament will mark these terrible events when business resumes on Tuesday with a minute's silence in memory of the victims followed by statements to express our sympathy and solidarity with their families, friends and all of the French people on behalf of the Irish people."

Books of Condolence will open at the Pro Cathedral in Dublin in soldarity with the victims of last night's attacks in Paris.

Spotify France has created a special playlist dedicated to peace.

More than 10,000 people have subscribed to it following the attacks in Paris last night.

It includes tracks like John Lennon's 'Imagine', Louis Armstrong's 'What a Wonderful World' and 'Blowin in the Wind' by Bob Dylan.
