Gardaí hunt gang involved in Westmeath burglary

Gardaí have launched a man hunt for three people believed to have been involved in an aggravated burglary on an elderly couple in Co. Westmeath.

A man aged 75 and a woman aged 80 are understood to have been threatened with a knife in the incident at their home in Ballynacarrgy.

Approximately €500 was stolen in the incident.

The robbery took place in the Churchtown area in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Meanwhile gardaí in Tullamore are investigating a gun attack on a house in Clara yesterday.

A number of shots were fired at the property on Beecmount Avenue at about 4.20 am.

A technical examination of the scene has been completed.
