The High Court has been told that the DPP may decide to bring charges in the next month or two as part of the criminal investigation into Anglo Irish Bank.

Some 150 files have been lodged with the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Earlier Mr Justice Peter Kelly expressed surprise at the High Court that only 11 garda officers are assigned to what he said was the biggest investigation of its type.

Deputy editor of the Sunday Business Post Richard Curran said the lack of a public airing on what happened around the banking crisis was fuelling public anger over this case.

"The public that are having to pay the cost of all of this might be able to stomach delays in the criminal investigation a bit better if there had been a public forum about exactly what happened," he said.

"It's the lack of that that makes it much more difficult for people to take."
