Labour will table no-confidence motion if Election is not called: Gilmore
Labour leader Eamon Gilmore has said he will make good on his promise to move a motion of no confidence in the Government unless a date for a General Election is set before the end of January.
Deputy Gilmore says the Taoiseach and the Tánaiste have refused to give a timetable for the passing of the Finance Bill.
The Government says it will not on't call an election before that piece of legislation is dealt with.
Speaking to Kfm, Deputy Gilmore said: "It's perfectly clear that they are trying to string that out…They said the election would be called by the end of January. At any time if I feel that commitmet is not going to be honoured…theLabour Party will move a motion of no confidence in the Government."
Meanwhile, Junior Minister Conor Lenihan, Finance Minister Brian Lenihan’s brother, said people in his constituency wanted a change of leader.
“I have to say that, of those that I have spoken to to date in my own constituency of Tallaght, pretty much the majority of the people feel it’s appropriate that we should have a change of leadership now, ahead of the General Election.
“As I say, I haven’t made up my mind on that matter.”
