Galway City Council works to restore full water supply
Some areas of Galway continue to be without water today, particularly on the West side of the city.
While there has been some improvement in water levels in the reservoirs, demand has remained exceptionally high throughout the city through a combination taps being left run and burst pipes.
City Council Staff are working to repair burst pipes and leaks on the mains as they become aware of them.
The Claremont and Rockfield Park estates in Rahoon have low pressure and City Council staff set up standpipes in that area yesterday afternoon.
Some houses and premises, particularly in elevated areas of Knocknacarra (including upper Ballymoneen Road) Rahoon and the Circular Road area, may experience diminished water pressure and temporary loss of water supply.
"The public’s cooperation in conserving water use (including not allowing taps to run continuously) would also greatly assist in allowing water levels to return to normal," said a City Council statement.
"The public is asked to notify City Council on 091 536 400 of the location of major leaks which they may encounter."
