Child victims died of asphyxiation

It has emerged that the two little girls who were found dead in the fishing village of Ballycotton in Cork yesterday died from asphyxia.

Seven-year-old Zoe Butler and two-year-old Ella were found dead in their family home yesterday morning just a few hours after their father - John - was killed in a car crash.

A post mortem examination on his body has revealed that he died from burn injuries and smoke inhalation.

Gardaí are appealing for the public's help in determining Mr. Butler's final movements.

He bought petrol in a local filling station before the crash and they are appealing for information on the movements of his car, a red Toyota Yaris, 02-C-1526.
