Cork Airport restrictions lifted
Flight restrictions at Cork Airport have been lifted.
Air traffic controllers are in talks with management after the continuing row over staffing levels resulted in restricted traffic movements at the airport. The restrictions were due to be in effect between 8.30am and 6pm, but have now been lifted.
Information is still coming in on how the restrictions came to be eased.
The Irish Aviation Authority is advising passengers to contact their airline for further information on their flights.
The industrial action over roster changes and overtime has already caused disruption at both Dublin and Shannon airports and affected thousands of travellers.
Impact, the air traffic controllers’ union, maintains the system is understaffed and excessively reliant on overtime.
Both the AII and Impact representatives will meet at the Labour Relations Commission today in an attempt to resolve the problems.
If no agreement is reached the controllers said they would begin an official overtime ban from February 26 with the possibility of full stoppages to follow.
“The Irish Aviation Authority regrets the inconvenience to our airline customers and to the travelling public,” said a spokeswoman.
