Dermot Laide was due to be released from Loughan House Prison, Co Cavan, at dawn.

The 23-year-old was convicted of violent disorder in connection with the death of Brian Murphy in 2000.

Murphy was kicked and beaten to death outside Dublin's Club Annabel.

Laide was originally convicted of manslaughter but this was overturned and he will be re-tried for the offence in April 2006.

His conviction of violent disorder was upheld and he served 19 months of his two-year sentence.

Three other men, Sean Mackey, Dermot Ryan and Andrew Frame, were tried alongside Laide for the manslaughter of Murphy

Mackey is still serving a two-year sentence for violent disorder, Ryan successfully appealed his conviction and Frame was found not guilty.
