Gardaí launch murder hunt after Lithuanian stabbed
A murder hunt was under way today after a Lithuanian man was stabbed to death in Dublin’s north inner city.
The attack happened following a row outside a flat at Saint Joseph’s Villas off the North Circular Road at 12.15am.
Gardaí said the man, a Lithuanian national in his late 20s, received up to five stab wounds and died in an ambulance en route to the Mater Hospital.
A passer-by found the victim bleeding on the ground and alerted the emergency services on his mobile phone.
The scene was sealed off today for forensic examination.
A garda spokesman added: “No motive for the attack is clear at this point and no arrests have been made yet.
“But the investigation team is following a definite line of inquiry.”
It is understood the victim had only been living in Ireland for a number of weeks.
There could have been up to six men involved in a row before the incident and gardaí are waiting to interview them, a source said.
Gardaí have also appealed for information on the whereabouts of a white 1988 Dublin-registered Daihatsu Charade which was seen leaving the scene.
