Lawlor to contest to legal bills today
Lawyers for Liam Lawlor will today contest legal bills of €600,000 for his appearances in court arising from the Planning and Payments Tribunal.
The former Fianna Fail TD has legal bills totalling €732,000 for his visits to the High Court in 2000 and 2001 and earlier this year.
Lawlor faced his first of many court cases late in 2000 when he refused to answer several questions regarding credit cards.
He was threatened to three months in jail for contempt of court but so far he has only served half of that term.
This figure includes the fees of the Tribunal legal team. Today he will challenge the costs imposed by the Taxing master.
