Labour Party hoping to win second Dublin SC seat

The Labour Party is staging a symbolic binning of the outgoing Government’s record on public services this lunchtime at the Mansion House in Dublin.

Labour leader, Ruairi Quinn, is campaigning this afternoon in Dublin South Central where his party is hoping to win a second seat.

The constituency, which is normally a four-seater, has been increased to five seats and Labour’s Eric Byrne is hoping to take the new vacancy.

In the last election Fianna Fail won two seats, FG won one and Labour got one.

Eric Byrne says the main issues for the constituency are bin charges, combating drugs, health and education. He also said that voter apathy is a major problem in the area.
