Flood discovers new accounts for Ray Burke
The Flood Tribunal has discovered another bank account opened by the former Fianna Fail Minister Ray Burke under a different name.
Mr Burke opened the account in an AIB branch in London in 1983 under the name Patrick D. Burke and gave an address in Hampshire in England.
Last March, a representative from AIB in Bruton Street in London was called to the tribunal to give evidence concerning Ray Burke's and Brendan MacGowan's accounts there.
He said the bank didn't have those records, but then in April he discovered the records and today he was questioned about them.
He revealed that Ray Burke opened an account with them in November 1983 and lodged Stg£15,000 in the account.
He then withdrew the money six days later and closed the account.
Mr Burke's personal details had not been filled in when he had opened the account.
Counsel for the Tribunal, Patricia Dillon, asked did this mean someone at the bank know that Mr Ray Burke was a member of parliament in Ireland.
The representative said that was a reasonable assumption.
