Mast of super yacht brought ashore

The mast of £4m catamaran owned by the renowned sailor Pete Goss has been brought ashore by fishermen operating from a tiny Co Mayo harbour.

It appears the tiny piece of wreckage is all that remains of the 120 foot Team Phillips craft that had to be abandoned in the Atlantic during sea trials last December.

Goss and his six man crew were rescued by a cargo ship during hurricane force winds which struck while they were on sea trials for a round the world yacht race last December.

The mast was recovered by fishermen and has brought to Port Erlin in Mayo.

It is understood that Mr Goss is interested in acquiring at least a part of the mast as a momento.
