ASTI to decide on action over pay claim today

The ASTI annual convention is to debate the crucial issue of pay in Galway today.

Delegates are expected to agree over the next two days which strategy to take if they reject the clarified Labour Court deal.

The union leadership will outline all options open to members, whether they accept or reject the court's proposals. However, General Secretary Charlie Lennon said he does not expect any further targeting of this year's State exams.

It is believed next year's school year would instead be disrupted in any action.
