Gardaí launch inquiry after two elderly brothers found dead in a house

The discovery was made yesterday afternoon in the Millrose Estate in Bluebell after locals in the area became concerned that they had not seen one of the brothers for a number of days.

The two men were in their 70s. Both bodies were discovered when gardaí entered the house.

One of the men is believed to have been dead for some time as his body was in a more pronounced state of decomposition. It is believed that both of the men were deaf and had lived in the estate for many years.

The remains were removed to the city morgue in Marino. A postmortem on both bodies is due to begin this morning. Foul play is not suspected and the deaths are being described as a “tragic incident”.

It is believed that one of the brothers failed to notify authorities of the death of his sibling and may have struggled to look after himself in the period after the death.

Gardaí from Kilmainham in Dublin are carrying out inquiries.
