Patrick Honohan to leave
Sources close to Mr Honohan say he feels it is the right time to leave, after he turns 66 in September, and with the economy in a different place now than when he took the job in 2009. He was due to finish in September 2016.
“There’s no row, or issues, it’s nothing untoward or to do with his health either,” said a reliable source.
Mr Honohan told Finance Minister Michael Noonan of his decision a week ago.
The former TCD professor is expected to announce his decision today at the Central Bank’s annual report launch.
