Patrick Honohan to leave

Central Bank governor Patrick Honohan will announce today that he intends to leave his position by November, nearly a year ahead of his term of office finishing.

Sources close to Mr Honohan say he feels it is the right time to leave, after he turns 66 in September, and with the economy in a different place now than when he took the job in 2009. He was due to finish in September 2016.

“There’s no row, or issues, it’s nothing untoward or to do with his health either,” said a reliable source.
