Lionel Richie and Status Quo set to rock Marquee, Cork

Hello, it’s the Marquee you’re looking for — if you want to catch Lionel Richie this summer.

The former Commodores frontman is set to play his internationally renowned hits ‘All Night Long’ on Saturday, June 27, as part of the Live at the Marquee series.

It will be the second time the multi-platinum selling artist will play the venue, following his last sell-out show in Cork in 2007.

The five-time Grammy winner and international superstar launched his current tour, All The Hits All Night Long, in the US in September 2013, and the tour comes to Europe this spring, playing 31 dates across 12 different countries before returning in the summer for a number of festivals including Glastonbury.

Meanwhile, Status Quo are also heading to Cork as they continue ‘Rockin’ All Over The World’.

Founder members Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Andrew Bown, John ‘Rhino’ Edwards, and recent addition Leon Cave will play the Marquee on Sunday, July 12.

After 50 years, Status Quo’s total worldwide record sales have exceeded 118m units, they have released 100 singles, and have spent over 200 weeks in the UK singles charts with hit songs like ‘Down Down’, ‘Whatever Your Want’, ‘The Wanderer’, ‘In The Army Now’, ‘Caroline’ and ‘Rockin’ All Over The World’, which became the anthem to Live Aid when the band opened the historic event to the world in 1985 at Wembley Stadium.

Richie and Status Quo are the latest acts to be added to the Marquee lineup this year, which includes performances from Riverdance, Billy Idol, Damien Rice, Nathan Carter, The Coronas, The Frames, and Van Morrison.

Tickets for both Lionel Richie and Status Quo go on sale next Thursday, February 5, at 9am from all usual outlets nationwide.
