Another jobs boost for Cork as firm to set up European HQ

Cork savoured another high-end jobs boost yesterday — bringing to over 700 the number of new jobs announced for the city in a week.

Online digital research company Global Reviews said it will create 30 jobs over the next two years by opening its European headquarters in the city.

The company is a global leader in online customer experience intelligence and digital research.

It uses data analytics and market intelligence technology to provide its clients’ heads of marketing, digital marketing, e-commerce and research with industry data, competitor intelligence, and customer behavioural insights to help improve sales and competitiveness.

The company said it will be looking for experienced professionals to drive company growth and provide top-class digital marketing and sales insights to its clients around the world.

The investment project is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.

Enterprise Minister Richard Bruton said the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs has targeted this “big data” sector, including establishing a technology centre in this area.

“This announcement by Global Reviews shows the possibilities that exist in this sector.

“Here is a leading research and marketing company, using big data to improve its service, establishing a European HQ in Cork.”

Nicholas Greig, the European regional director of Global Reviews, said they were delighted to be setting up in Ireland.

“We chose Cork because of the city’s positive energy, the calibre of the local workforce, the fact that we have secured many Ireland-based clients in the insurance, banking and retail e-commerce markets, as well as the ease of access to European markets.”

The Cork staff will work closely with the firm’s head office in Melbourne and regional office in London.

IDA boss Barry O’Leary said the investment highlights Cork’s reputation as a leading location from which to do business with Europe.

Innovation Minister Sean Sherlock who also welcomed the jobs boost, and said the Government will continue to support companies operating in this area.

On Monday, fire safety and security giant Tyco announced 500 jobs for the city, Ringaskiddy-based pharma firm BioMarin announced 40 new jobs last Friday, and a €30m photonics research centre at Tyndall aims to create up to 200 jobs over the next three years.
