Stolen floodlights ‘may be used to grow cannabis’
Seamus Roche, chairman of Cortoon GAA Club near Tuam, Co Meath, says he says he has been “reliably informed” that the lights and fittings could have been stolen for criminal purpose.
The theft is a financial disaster for the club’s fundraising efforts as it “could cost €5,000 to replace the stolen items and hire a hoist and electricians to put the new lights and fittings in place”, while the club’s insurance may not cover the costs, as only the fittings, not the poles, were stolen.
