Detectives confiscated eight different types of drugs, worth an estimated €800,000, when they searched an industrial unit in south Dublin.
They also found 93 rounds of ammunition along with a large quantity of forged documentation. These included blank NCT certificates, insurance certificates, P60s, travel passes and other documents.
A quantity of photographic equipment was also seized.
The drugs seized included: 22kg of cannabis resin, worth €122,000; 26kg of cannabis herb, worth €500,000; 2kg of amphetamine, worth €30,000, 0.5kg of heroin, worth €80k; 5,000 ecstasy, worth €50,000; and 8,000 sleeping tablets, worth €16,000.
A Garda spokesman said it was “an intelligence-led operation into organised crime” by the Garda National Drugs Unit, in conjunction with the Revenue Service.
They were assisted by the Crumlin Detective Unit and the Ballyfermot Drugs Unit.
The spokesman said that a vehicle was searched in Ballymount Industrial Estate, Dublin 12, on Wednesday night. Ecstasy tablets and white powder were seized.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested and was detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under the provisions of section 2 Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
A number of follow-up searches were then conducted, including at a unit in Ballymount Industrial Estate.
