Search is on for Irish MasterChef
The iconic MasterChef is coming here and the search is on for amateur cooks to take part in the first series of MasterChef Ireland.
The judges will be chef Dylan McGrath and restaurateur Nick Munier. McGrath won his first Michelin star at 30 while Munier is a Dublin restaurateur working with some of the world’s best chefs.
Munier said: “I’m hoping to see exceptional cooks that have a sense of flavour and a natural flair for food. I also want to see people who are ready to change their lives for a career in food.
“On my staff in Pichet I have two members of staff who gave up their promising careers to change their life for a career in food — one a former solicitor, one a former doctor. This could be a life-changing opportunity for the winner and I want to find someone with the determination and drive to succeed, regardless of their background.”
Dylan McGrath said: “I’m very excited to be part of MasterChef Ireland and I want to see people who are genuinely enthusiastic about food, who want this really badly and who have a real hunger to succeed.
“In particular I want to see people for whom food is more than just a hobby. I think I’ll be instantly able to tell whether that is the case. Instinct is paramount, something you can’t buy.”
Applicants will have just two weeks to apply to take part. Successful applicants for MasterChef Ireland will go through rounds to get to the audition stage of the competition where they will be competing against some of the best amateur cooks in the country to gain a place on the series.
Applicants can also apply through The John Murray Show on RTÉ Radio 1 to secure two audition places.
The budding chefs that prove themselves worthy of a place in the final 16 will proceed through tasks and challenges testing their culinary talent.
The winner will win the title of Ireland’s first MasterChef and a prize of €25,000.
lTo apply log on to rte.ie/masterchef. Deadline is April 27.
