Top prize for Cork-based architects

Reddy O’Riordan Staehli Architects (RORSA) were victorious in the Commercial Interior and Exhibition Design section for their work on the Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH) and Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre projects. The CUMH project also won the prestigious overall Grand Prix prize.

A further commendation award was given to the company’s Ernst & Young office fit out in the Design For All section.

RORSA’s success at the Institute of Designers in Ireland (IDI) awards follows their recent achievement of becoming the first Irish interior architects to win the global award for the Cliffs of Moher project the Public Interiors category at the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers. The prize was presented at a ceremony in South Korea recently.

Marc O’Riain, the company’s interior design director said: “The IDI awards are like the Oscars of the interior design industry and to win not one, but four awards is an outstanding achievement for RORSA’s designers and architects.

“I must say it is a great compliment to a great project to also win the Grand Prix Cork University Maternity Hospital.”

The biennial IDI Awards ceremony is the highlight of the design industry calendar and is the only ‘All Ireland’ design competition covering all design sectors.

RORSA and Interiors is part of the Reddy Architecture and Urbanism Group, working extensively in Ireland and the North.
