The Government's spending watchdog has criticised cost overruns on the scheme to demolish and replace the Ballymun flats in north Dublin.

The Health and Safety Authority has confirmed that the demolition of the Ballymun flats complex in Dublin will not be allowed to go ahead until asbestos has been safely removed from the buildings.

The demolition of Dublin’s Ballymun flats will reportedly be delayed for four years following the discovery of asbestos in the walls and ceilings of the buildings.
