Another substantial chunk of the much-coveted quality farmland in the mid West Cork is new to the market with Skibbereen-based auctioneers Charles McCarthy.

The holding in question extends to 40 acres and is located at Ballyva, near Clonakilty. The farm is within 1km of Ardfield village and about 9km south of Clonakilty, near the coastline and some renowned beaches in an area known for its deep fertile land.

The lands enjoy good access, with the local minor road L4008 adjoining them. According to the selling agent Maeve McCarthy, there has been good interest in the property, mainly from farmers in the area.

There is no shortage of active and progressive farmers in this neck of the woods, with the emphasis focused mainly on the dairying sector.

“The holding comprises approximately 13 acres of very good quality land,” says Maeve, “It would be suitable for grazing or silage, along with a further 27 acres of more sloping ground of lesser quality. That would be well suited to grazing.”

The holding is in one block in a convenient setting in prime dairying country. The selling agents are quoting a reasonable €600,000 (€15,000/acre).
