100-acre Limerick farm withdrawn from auction and sold privately

Featured on these pages on the 20th of August last, a 100-acre holding at Thomastown, Kilfinane, Co. Limerick was successfully sold immediately following a public auction last week.
At a very tempting price guide of €1,000,000 (€10,000/acre), the auction took place on Wednesday, 23rd of September at the Deebert Hotel in Kilmallock, with a simultaneous online auction via the LSL platform.
The property is 2km south of Kilfinane and was described as GVM’s auctioneer Tom Crosse as a “truly top-class farm”, with extensive road frontage.
With a central roadway and laid out in easily managed divisions, the farms sloping topography, makes for good natural drainage.
“It’s really ideal for all types of use, including beef, dairying, equestrian or hobby farming,” said auctioneer Tom Crosse of GVM in advance of the sale.
A farmyard with independent access features a 2-storey house (accommodation includes hallway, sitting room, kitchen/living room, 3 bedrooms and a bathroom) and outbuildings (including a hay barn, cubicle shed, silage slab and a 4-bay double slatted shed and cattle crush).
Bidding opened at €900,000 and, once it reached its pre-auction guide of €1,000,000, the property was withdrawn. Discussions immediately afterwards then resulted in a deal being reached.
The selling agents remain tight lipped as to the sales figure but it is reported to be in the region of €1,200,000.
