The 50-acre farm at Drom, Co. Tipperary

New to the market with Cashel-based Maher Auctioneers, a 50-acre farm offers excellent pasture in South Tipperary — a much-coveted part of Munster where strong prices have been set in recent years.

The holding in question is just off the L3213, on the outskirts of the small village of Drom — 5km from Templemore and 12km from Thurles.

“It’s great land,” says selling agent Nicholas Maher. “It’s in permanent pasture. There are seven or eight fields. It’s well drained and there have been cattle grazing it for the last number of years.

“There seems to be already a good bit of interest in the farm. We’ve had seven or eight viewings so far, but it’s not surprising because it’s great quality land.”

Access to the farm is via a passageway to the public road on the eastern boundary of the holding.

The dairying sector is dominant in this part of the Golden Vale but there are other sectoral interests too, particularly beef cattle.

“We’d expect it to make in the region of €15,000 to €16,000 per acre,” adds Nicholas. “There’s a small bit of woodland — approximately four acres.

"It’s a well-fenced property and has a small stream going through it. It’s a nice holding that could suit a hobby farmer or it could work well as an outside farm.”
