27-acre West Waterford land already exceeding €15k/acre price guide

The property in question is in the townland of Springfield, just a kilometre or so to the south of the village of Tallow. This was the area where the former point-to-point races used to take place. And one of the most famous racehorses to come from this townland was Springfield Boy — still celebrated in song.

The land is of top quality, according to the selling agent Michael Barry of Dick Barry & Son. The access to the holding is very good too, with a good degree of road frontage.

“We were guiding this property at €15,000 per acre but it’s gone well over that,” says Michael.

The farm would be of interest to either equestrian or dairying interests and there are representatives of both sectors in the area; the convenience, quality, and size make this property an attractive option for a wide number of potential suitors.

“It’s a very nice piece of land,” says Michael. “All in one block and a nice bit of road frontage with a stream at the bottom. There’s also a nice derelict old farmhouse on it. There’s major work to be done on it but it has good potential.”

There’s certainly no shortage of charms with this impressive small holding, which has a value approaching €20,000/acre at the time of writing.
