The current ludicrous state of our government reminds me of JK Galbraith’s remark in 1969.

Both Dr Fintan Sheerin and Dr Kevin McCarthy express their disdain at my referring (Irish Examiner, Letters, March 25) to the warning plainly written in the Hebrew scriptures that ‘The Mighty One’ of Israel, himself, determined the boundaries of the land of Israel, which he gave to the Jewish people for an everlasting possession. 

Your recent feature “Rampant cannibalism in German concentration camp” made for sober reading.

In reply to Daniel Teegan’s “We must call upon our government to end arms trade with Israel “ (Irish Examiner, Letters April 4), calling G4S’s decision to sell off its Israel business a victory for the Israel haters in BDS is more than a little disingenuous.

The behaviour of the main political parties since the February 26 election — now almost eight weeks ago — has been nothing short of contemptuous towards the will of the Irish electorate.

Trying to explain the recent commemoration of the 1916 rising and its conflicting background to foreigners is bit of an ordeal.
